Media kits provide essential information to the media. A media kit would include a press release about the author and the book; a bio of the author; reviews; maybe, list of recent appearances; a cover letter; photos of the author, and sometimes a copy of the book. Put everything in a folder with the publicist’s business card and mail it. Media kits enable reporters to do their job easier. They can also be sent to the organizers of an event so they can publicize the engagement.
